The FoodWise Short Course aims to enable students to develop and demonstrate a range of skills through food technology activities and studies. Students will have the opportunity to develop their practical cooking skills, as well as building knowledge of a variety of food-related issues. Students will develop a number of social skills including; different types of communication, managing money; costings of meals and how to buy ingredients wisely.
The FoodWise Short Course contains seven modules, each covering a different topic:
- Healthy eating
- Basic food safety
- Food preparation and presentation
- Cooking on a budget
- The food industry
- Practical cooking skills
This course recognises and rewards students personal achievements and allows them to manage their own learning. This encourages students to develop their own independence, personal effectiveness and their employability skills.
